There’s no doubt that there are probably a million people or more out there that could benefit from your product or service. Heck, maybe everybody suffering from that specific problem would be served with your unique solutions. But experience shows that if you want to help everybody, you’ll end up helping nobody.
Having a specific audience in mind that you want to help, enables you to really get to know all the ins and outs about your ideal clients; to get into their heads and find out all there is to know about their desires and goals, their problems & challenges, their frustrations, concerns, anxieties, needs and worries.
Because once you have an answer to all of these questions, it will be easy to create a product or service that perfectly meets their needs and desires and that will help them solve the problem they’re facing or achieve the goal they have.
Understanding your audience forms the foundation to all your marketing efforts. Every aspect of your business; from the words and images you use on your website, to the products you offer, your packaging, your pricing and every single decision you make in behalf of your business…it all starts with your ideal customer or client in mind!
Your email list will be the BIGGEST asset in your business. Basically it’s a list with all your prospects, clients, former clients and other people with an interest in what you have to offer. It allows you to connect with your audience on a regular basis and build a valuable and long-lasting relationship with them – without having to keep spending money on advertising on Google or social media.
Remember that – unlike your social media channels – your email list is yours and no-one can take it away from you or give you less access to your audience because they decide to change their algorithm anytime they please, or simply decide that you need to pay to play.
So, with everything you do on social media – or even offline -, your focus should be to get these people on your email list as soon as possible. And the best way to do this, is by offering them a valuable and relevant piece of content for free. In order to get it, they need to give you their email address – so you know where to send their free gift, right? And with the proper tools in place this lead generating process will be fully automated so it can run 24/7 and grow your e-mail list even when you sleep.
Your lead magnet is where your actual sales funnel starts. This is the place where people will enter your circle of trust & influence by joining your email list.
NOTE: make sure that your lead magnet is related to the paid product or service that you’re going to offer your subscribers in the future.
There are countless possibilities for a lead magnet. For example, a pdf download, an e-book, a mini-course, a video series, a challenge, a worksheet, a recipe, discount coupons, a checklist, you name it…
What you choose, depends on the line of business you’re in, the target audience you have and what’s the shortest way to help your audience get results.
Step 3 – Nurture The Relationship
As soon as your website visitors decide to download your irresistible lead magnet, your email service provider will send them the first of a series of pre-written and pre-scheduled emails. All of this happens automatically, so after you set it up once you’ll be able to generate leads and sales on autopilot.
Make sure you have a minimum of 5 emails in your ‘welcome email sequence’. The goal of this sequence is to introduce your brand to your new subscribers and to start building a relationship with them. You want ensure they see the value in being your subscriber so they’ll stay subscribed and keep opening your emails in the future, so you can ultimately send them to your sales page or order form to buy from you.
Step 4 – Convert To Cash
Now that you’ve nurtured the relationship with your new email subscribers by sending them regular emails with valuable information, you want to send them to your sales page or order form to make a purchase.
Keep in mind that this can take anything from a few days to a few weeks, or even months, depending on your offer, its price point, and whether that prospect is ready to buy. Some people make decisions much faster than others, so keep communicating with your audience, keep offering value, and make your offer multiple times.
On average it takes 7-12 contact moments before people will buy from you. So it only makes sense to often times send your audience valuable content, and to make your offer more than once.
Step 5 – Fuel Your Funnel
Once your sales funnel is completely set-up, now and only now you start thinking about fueling your funnel with traffic.
Here’s the thing…
A lot of people will hop onto the online marketing boat without having a clue what they’re doing. They don’t have a clear goal, let alone thought-out strategies or a plan – which basically means they’re setting themselves up for failure.
If you start attracting traffic to your website without a smart strategy, and without a complete system in place to convert them to cash, you are wasting your valuable time, money and effort. However, if you’ve followed each step in this guide to the tee, you’re building the foundation for an unstoppable business.
If you take another look at The Fabulous Funnel Formula, you’ll notice that there are a few different sections.
The middle section in the pink area, is your actual ‘sales funnel’. This is the part where you take your prospects on your carefully crafted ‘client journey’. It consists of your optin form where they can subscribe for your irresistible lead magnet, followed by your 5-part email sequence, and finally your sales page.
The blue square at the beginning is essential to make sure you attract the right people – and that you can actually find them on the overcrowded Internet. So that’s where you start.
And the second blue square – at the end – is the traffic that you use to consistently fuel your sales funnel with new ‘strangers’. It’s at the end for a reason…
You do NOT want to start attracting traffic – especially paid traffic – before you have your sales funnel in place to convert that traffic to cash. You can do this ‘fueling’ of your sales funnel with either organic or paid traffic, depending on what you can afford and on how quickly you want to see results.
Here’s a list of the most common options available to fuel your funnel:
- Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Periscope, etc.
- Blogging: your own blog or someone else’s blog who talks to the same audience
- Online Advertising: on Social Media or Google Adwords
- Search Engine Optimization: you can optimize your website to rank higher in search engines
- E-mail Marketing: if you already have an e-mail list, use it. Or you could use someone else’s list to fuel your funnel
Select one of these traffic sources to attract your ideal clients into your business! I suggest you select the one where they are the easiest to reach. And even though there are many many options, I suggest you select ONE source and master it before even considering adding another one.
A lot of entrepreneurs are trying to be omni-present, which is a good thing if you have a team to support you. If it’s just you – and chances are it is in this startup stage of your business – it’s much better to FOCUS on one traffic source and get amazing results there than getting average results on multiple platforms.
